The Iannone Conference is named for the Dean who began the Ph.D. program in Practical Theology, Dr. Joe Iannone. We have had 28 graduates of the program since its inception, authors of amazing dissertations that have resulted in many academic books, articles, and scholarly papers.

The Ph.D. program sponsors this academic conference, the ninth such conference of its kind. Our graduates, doctoral candidates, and doctoral students are among the presenters, though all are always welcome to propose a paper. Please reach out if you have any questions of any kind.

The theme this year is “Bringing Voice to Practical Theology” and the panels and papers look to be amazing. Take a look at the attached program and you will see what is sure to be a great intellectual feast. While I do not expect change in the program at this point, please know that a final version will be distributed to all guests at the Conference itself. Presentations will include our Holland Lecture, a keynote address named for Dr. Joe Holland, the now-retired STU professor who contributed greatly to practical theological method and whose books and articles have been published around the world in many languages. The Holland Lecture is given by the person who won the Holland Award for the best paper at the previous Iannone Conference.

I am attaching the program. I ask that you plan to attend if possible. Please also spread the word! All are invited, not only from our campus but the general public. The Iannone Conference will take place in the library on Saturday, December 8, from 9:30am to 4:30pm. All are welcome…even if you can be there for just a part of it, we would love to have you! And many thanks to the library for partnering with us to make this happen.

With much gratitude to all for your support of what we do, and many thanks to our amazing students and doctoral program community as a whole.

Warmly,
Bryan Froehle
