St. Thomas University and Miami Gardens Police Department will conduct a large-scale training exercise in and around the University Library.

The exercise, which will begin around 8:00 am and last until 12:00 pm, is designed to test the University and law enforcement’s emergency response and recover plans and capabilities. This exercise will include law enforcement predominately from the Miami Gardens Police Department, members from the Regional Domestic Security Task Force, and STU staff.

To provide a realistic scenario for emergency responders, and to ensure a safe environment for everyone involved, the exercise will result in some temporary changes to daily campus operations.  Simulated gunfire may be heard between the hours of 8:00 am to 11:00 am. If you plan on working this day, we ask that you arrive after 11:00 am, with the exception of the law school as classes will remain in session.

Road/Sidewalk Closures (6:00 am to 12:00 pm)
?    All vehicular traffic entering campus at 37th Avenue will be directed to make the immediate right leading them towards the Fernandez Family Center for Leadership and Wellness.  Vehicular traffic will not be permitted to pass Lot 6.
?    Employees (only) that work in Mimi Dooner Hall or Carnival Cruise Lines may enter campus at 32nd Avenue.  Vehicular traffic is not permitted to turn left after entering 32nd Avenue and will not be permitted to pass Lot 9.

Lot and Facility Closures (6:00 am to 12:00 pm)
?    Lots 7, 10, and 11
?    University Library and Einstein Bagels

Additionally, as a result of these road closures, the Bobcat Shuttle morning commuter route will be altered slightly.  The Bobcat Shuttle will stop at the Fernandez Family Center for Leadership and Wellness, Sullivan Hall, and School of Law before returning to the Opa-Locka TriRail station.
